Notice on the Receipt of Applications for Projects under the NAFOSTED–FWO (Belgium) Funding Program in 2025
The National Foundation for Science and Technology Development (NAFOSTED) and the Research Foundation – Flanders, Belgium (FWO) announce the receipt of applications for joint research projects, expected to be funded for implementation from 2026. The application submission period on the Vietnamese side is from 20/5/2025 to 17:00 (Vietnam time) on 01/10/2025.

Some notes
– Research field of the project: Basic research in the fields of natural sciences and engineering, social sciences and humanities.
– Project implementation period: 03 years (expected to start in 2026)
– Funding from NAFOSTED: The proposed project funding shall correspond to the contents in the proposal and the registered outputs, in accordance with the scientific labor cost norms prescribed in Circular No. 03/2023/TT-BTC dated 10 January 2023 of the Minister of Finance and Circular No. 02/2023/TT-BKHCN dated 08 May 2023 of the Minister of Science and Technology
– Requirements for organizations and individuals implementing the project: On the NAFOSTED side, the lead organization, project leader, participating members and research results of the project shall comply with the regulations applicable to “development projects” stipulated in Circular No. 37/2014/TT-BKHCN dated 12 December 2024 of the Minister of Science and Technology on management of basic research projects funded by the National Foundation for Science and Technology Development, as amended and supplemented by Circular No. 10/2024/TT-BKHCN dated 30 December 2024. The Belgian scientist must satisfy the conditions in accordance with FWO regulations.

Application dossier and application submission method
The project dossier must be jointly prepared by the project leaders from Vietnam and Belgium. The Belgian project leader shall submit the application through FWO's online application system (FWO E-portal); the Vietnamese project leader shall submit the application through NAFOSTED's online application system (NAFOSTED E-service).
On the Vietnamese side, the application dossier includes:

Project application form (completed directly on the OMS system).

Updated curriculum vitae of the project leader and members of the Vietnamese research team (completed directly on the OMS system).

01 set of copies of the project dossier submitted on the FWO system.

Estimated project funding for the Vietnamese research team (English and Vietnamese versions): Detailed guidance is provided in Circular No. 03/2023/TT-BTC of the Minister of Finance, Circular No. 02/2023/TT-BKHCN of the Minister of Science and Technology and relevant documents.

On the Vietnamese side, the application dossier shall be submitted through one of the following two methods:
Method 1. Submit the application dossier through the OMS system with all required electronic signatures and seals.
Method 2. Submit the application dossier online through the OMS system. Then print the dossier from the system, sign it (in blue ink), affix the confirmation seal and send it to:

The National Foundation for Science and Technology Development encourages lead organizations and scientists to submit electronic applications through Method 1 above in order to promote digital transformation and administrative procedure reform. For lead organizations that have previously signed electronic contracts with the Foundation or already have digital signatures, the organizations are requested to submit their project proposals through Method 1.
